(Washington, D.C.) – The Coalition of the Northeast Corridor (CNEC) congratulates former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg for his nomination by President-elect Joe Biden to serve as Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary.
“We are eager to begin working with Mayor Buttigieg in his incoming role and implementing the President-elect’s rail vision,” said Amit Bose, Chairman of the CNEC. “The Northeast Corridor has many projects that need federal backing to ensure the safety and efficiency of passenger rail while also stimulating the economy and increasing employment opportunities for Americans.”
“As a former mayor, Buttigieg understands the importance of investing in critical infrastructure,” said Mike Friedberg CNEC Executive Director. “The CNEC appreciates the incoming administration’s efforts to address our infrastructure needs and stands ready to partner with Buttigieg as he leads the DOT.”
CNEC is the business community’s voice for strengthening rail infrastructure in order to reduce congestion, create jobs and grow the economy. We represent diverse stakeholders who rely on the Corridor to conduct commerce, access customers, and transport employees.
