(Washington, D.C.) – The Coalition of the Northeast Corridor (CNEC) congratulates Rep. Donald Payne Jr. (D-NJ) for being voted to Chair the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials.

“Rep. Payne has shown unwavering support for investing in rail infrastructure along the Northeast Corridor (NEC). Understanding the significant role that such investments make in increasing passenger rail safety and efficiency, generating employment opportunities for those residing along the NEC, and moving the economy forward, Rep. Payne has repeatedly called on Congress to support projects such as the Portal North Bridge, the Hudson River Tunnel, and other critical projects that address bottleneck areas,” said Mike Friedberg CNEC Executive Director. “With Chairman Payne in the driver’s seat, CNEC is confident that the NEC will get the much needed attention it deserves. We look forward to working closely with his Subcommittee during the 117th Congress.”

CNEC is the business community’s voice for strengthening rail infrastructure in order to reduce congestion, create jobs and grow the economy. We represent diverse stakeholders who rely on the Corridor to conduct commerce, access customers, and transport employees.
