(Washington, D.C.) Today, the Coalition for the Northeast Corridor (CNEC) applauded the House of Representatives on the passage of their surface transportation reauthorization bill, the INVEST in America Act.

"Given the tremendous need for investment along the Northeast Corridor (NEC), we are pleased to see members of the House pass this historic funding measure for rail infrastructure," said Ronnie Hakim, Chair of CNEC. "If enacted, these measures will improve passenger rail services and address the much-needed replacement of bridges, stations, and tunnels across the NEC. We look forward to seeing this measure move through the Senate."

"We are very pleased to see members of House recognize the importance of rail infrastructure and investments along the Northeast Corridor (NEC)," said Michael Friedberg, Executive Director of CNEC. "For far too long, projects along the Corridor have experienced project delays and a lack of funding targeted investments to address infrastructure needs. This bill will ensure projects have the resources they need to make long-term improvements that will ensure access to safe and secure rail services for years to come."
